Dominick Casola Puts Kentucky Behind Him, Looks Forward To Pennsylvania ARCA 200

HOLMDEL, NJ JULY 22, 2007 . . . A multi-car accident on the first lap of the WLWT Channel 5-150 ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Kentucky Speedway back on Friday, July 13th, may just have Dominick Casola believing in all that bad luck stuff about Friday the 13th.

“When the accident happened the track was blocked and I was forced to go through the infield grass,” said the young racer. “I apparently picked up some debris and that resulted in a blown tire.”

Casola crashed on the 15th lap after the right front tire blew as a result of the debris.

The resulting damage put him in the pits until there were just five laps remaining.

“The crew really did a great job getting me back out on the track,” commented the former Wall Township, NJ truck racer. “We managed to pick up a position and gain a few points by getting back out there even though we were only credited with 20 laps completed. We did get to take the checkered flag with the A.Casola Farms Ford Fusion.

“We had high hopes for our chances at Kentucky but now it is just a bad memory put behind us as we head to Pocono Raceway.”

The team earned a 36th place finish after having started 31st in a field of 41.

Casola and the Andy Belmont Motorsports owned Ford Fusion will have a new Robert Yates Ford motor in place for the August 4th Pennsylvania 200. Despite missing the season opener at Daytona International Speedway and the bonus points he would have earned Casola is currently 18th in the driver standings with 1885 points.

“We are really looking forward to returning to Pocono,” said Casola. “It is pretty much our home track and a lot of our friends and relatives come out for this one.

“With 11 different winners in 13 races this season plus the fact that the races run in combination with NASCAR Nextel Cup events attract a large number of Cup supported teams; we think the competition will be tough. It is an opportunity to showcase our talents in a nationally televised race (SPEED, 1 p.m. Eastern).”

Casola will be looking for his first top-10 finish of the season against a stellar field of competitors on one of the toughest circuits on the schedule.

The race at Pocono Raceway kicks off a busy schedule for Dominick and the A.Casola Farms Ford Fusion with no open weekends through September 15th.

While he is on a two week hiatus from ARCA RE/MAX Series competition the Holmdel, NJ racer will be spending his Saturday nights at Wall Township, NJ Speedway racing a Legends stock car.
